RESTAURANT BRANDING MELBOURNE
xCreative™ brands restaurants and food businesses from our studio in Chadstone. Rōnin Omakase, Vicci Tom, JIAO ZI and TEA BAG all carry identities we designed. We work in English and Chinese, which matters when your menu does too. A restaurant identity extends to the table, see our menu design service.
Restaurant owners usually come to us at one of two moments: before opening, when everything is still possible, or two years in, when the food is better than the brand. Either way the job is the same. The identity on the door has to promise what the kitchen delivers, and every piece after that, from the menu to the website, has to keep that promise.
Restaurant Branding
Identity work for restaurants, cafes and food brands, from the name on the door to the menu in hand.
01
Naming & Identity
A restaurant brand starts working before the food arrives. For Rōnin Omakase we drew a calligraphic mark around the lone samurai, because the chef spent years in Japan training alone. JIAO ZI is simply the pinyin for dumpling, and that honesty is the brand.
02
Menu Design
Menus get more reading time than anything else a restaurant prints. We design them to survive dim lighting, tight margins and constant reprints without the layout falling apart. For bilingual venues the Chinese is set properly, not squeezed in as a second thought.
03
Shopfront & Interior Graphics
The identity continues on the window, the wall and the cup. TEA BAG has a cartoon character we drew for it, paired with a traditional seal stamp, and that character now sells tea from the shopfront every day. Signage is designed with the printer and the landlord requirements in mind.
04
Food & Product Photography
We photograph the actual dishes rather than stock lookalikes. The Rong Tea shoot covered the teas, the packaging and the brewed pour, so the website sells exactly what the table serves. One shoot gives you assets for the site, delivery platforms and social.
05
Websites & Bookings
A restaurant website gets opened on a phone at 7pm by someone hungry. Vicci Tom runs a minimal layout with a reservation flow that takes seconds, and we build every venue site around that same impatience. Menu, hours, address, book. Nothing fights with those four.
06
Bilingual Restaurant Brands
Half our food clients serve a bilingual audience. We design identities and menus in English and Chinese from day one, so the brand reads as one restaurant in both languages instead of a translation taped over the original.
How we work
From first tasting to opening night, in four steps.
01
Sit Down & Eat
We visit, we eat, we listen. The brand has to come from what the kitchen actually does well, not from a mood board of other restaurants.
02
Name & Mark
Naming if you need it, then the identity: logo, palette, typography and the voice the menus will speak in. Trademark checked before you fall in love with it.
03
Print & Space
Menus, signage, uniforms, packaging and interior graphics, produced with printers we have used for years so opening week does not become a colour-matching argument.
04
Launch & Online
Website, photography, Google profile and the search visibility work that gets you found by the person typing “dinner near me” at 6:45.
Why xCreative
What the food clients have in common.
Every restaurant in our portfolio came through word of mouth from another owner. The reason is boring and practical: we deliver the whole package on time for opening. Identity, menus, signage, photography and website from one studio means the venue opens looking finished, not assembled from four suppliers who never spoke to each other.
And because we run SEO, GEO and AI search as a core service, your restaurant gets found after opening night. When someone asks Google or ChatGPT where to eat near them, the venues with structured data, real photography and a fast website win that answer. We build all three into the job from the start.
FAQ
Questions restaurant owners ask us.
01
We open in eight weeks. Enough time?
Tight but workable if naming is already settled. Identity, menus and signage fit in six weeks when decisions come fast. The website can follow a fortnight after opening without hurting you.
02
Can you refresh without losing regulars?
Yes, and it is often the right call. We keep what customers recognise, usually the name and one visual anchor, and rebuild the rest. Regulars should feel the place got better, not that it changed hands.
03
Do you only work with Asian cuisine?
No. The bilingual capability is there when you need it, but the portfolio runs from omakase to bubble tea because the method is the same: find what the kitchen does best and build the brand on it.
04
What does a restaurant brand cost?
A new venue identity with menus and signage sits in a different bracket from a full rebrand with photography and website. Tell us what you are opening and we will quote it straight.
