BRAND NAMING AGENCY
xCreative™ names businesses, products and property developments. JIAO ZI is the pinyin for dumpling. Kingsley fuses Kingsway and Glen Waverley. Quercus is Latin for oak. Good names carry their own logic, and finding that logic is the job.
Naming is the highest-stakes decision in branding because everything else can be redesigned later. We name in English and Chinese together, which catches the disasters monolingual naming agencies never see coming, and occasionally finds gold they cannot reach.
Naming
Names for companies, developments and products, checked before you fall in love.
02
Development & Project Naming
Sky Terrace, Voyage and The Lakeside each name the experience of living there. Project names also have to clear the suburb’s history of lookalike launches, and we check.
03
Bilingual Naming
A name that flatters in English can embarrass in Chinese, and the reverse. We screen meaning, tone and reading in both languages, and sometimes the second language supplies the idea: JIAO ZI’s honesty only exists because we work bilingually.
04
Taglines & Messaging
The words that follow the name: taglines, positioning lines and the voice your website speaks in. Written, not translated, in both languages where your market needs it.
05
Availability Screening
Preliminary trademark checks, domain and social handle availability, and the embarrassing-meanings sweep, all before you commit. Renaming twice costs far more than naming carefully once.
06
Renaming Established Businesses
Sometimes the old name is the ceiling. We manage renames with the transition plan attached: customer communication, search equity migration and signage timing, so the change reads as growth.
How we work
Four steps, one team, no handovers.
01
Territory
What the name must say, avoid and clear: market, tone, languages and the competitors’ names already crowding the space.
02
Generate
Long list built from real routes: meaning, sound, place, language play. No software-generated word salad.
03
Screen
Trademark, domain, bilingual meaning and pronunciation checks cut the list to names you could actually own.
04
Decide & Extend
The shortlist presented with rationale, then the chosen name carried into logo and identity.
Why xCreative
Why naming here beats a brainstorm.
Most naming happens in a meeting room with a whiteboard and regret. The misses are invisible until launch: the trademark conflict, the domain squatter, the Chinese reading that makes teenagers laugh. We front-load those checks, so the name that survives is one you can register, rank and say out loud in both languages.
FAQ
Questions clients ask us.
01
How long does naming take?
Two to four weeks including screening. Rushing naming is how businesses end up on their second name, which takes far longer.
02
What if we already have a shortlist?
Good, bring it. We screen your candidates with the same rigour as ours, and we will tell you plainly if the favourite has a problem.
03
Do you guarantee the trademark?
No one honest does. We do preliminary screening that removes obvious conflicts, then your IP lawyer handles formal registration. We work with them directly if you like.
04
What does naming cost?
A product name and a company rename with transition plan are different jobs. Tell us what needs a name and we will quote it straight.
