PACKAGING DESIGN MELBOURNE
xCreative™ designs packaging that sells on the shelf and survives the courier. The Rong Tea range runs tins, boxes and gift sets. TEA BAG‘s cups and stickers carry a character we drew in this studio. JIAO ZI‘s packaging makes dumplings look like fast fashion. Packaging often rolls out together with signage design across stores and fit outs.
Packaging programs often grow out of a wider retail brand system.
Packaging is the last advertisement your customer sees before paying and the first thing they touch after. It has to win the shelf, unbox well and reprint identically in six months. We design for all three, with production reality built in from the first sketch.
Packaging
Packs, labels and unboxing designed with production in mind.
01
Food & Beverage
Tea, dumplings, bubble tea and restaurant retail: our packaging portfolio eats well. Food packs carry legal information, appetite appeal and brand story on a few square centimetres, and the hierarchy of those three is the design job.
02
Ranges & Gift Sets
The Rong Tea system covers single tins to gift boxes, structured so new products join the range without redesign. Range logic beats one-off pretty packs, because ranges grow and one-offs multiply into chaos.
03
Cups, Bags & Takeaway
TEA BAG‘s cup is a walking advertisement photographed daily by its own customers. Takeaway packaging is the cheapest media a food brand owns, provided the design is worth photographing.
04
Labels & Variants
Label systems that handle flavours, sizes and regulatory copy without collapsing, designed so your printer and your packing bench both stay sane.
05
Structure & Unboxing
Box formats, inserts and the opening sequence, planned with the production knowledge to keep the beautiful version affordable at real quantities.
06
Packshots & Store
We photograph the finished packs and build the online store they sell through, so shelf, screen and social show one consistent product.
How we work
Four steps, one team, no handovers.
01
Shelf & Channel
Supermarket, boutique, online or counter: where the pack fights decides how it must look and what it must survive.
02
Design
Concepts mocked up as physical objects and screen renders, judged at real size and shelf distance.
03
Production
Materials, print processes and quantities settled with suppliers before final artwork, so the quote and the design agree.
04
Launch & Extend
Artwork delivered, first run checked, and the range system ready for the products you launch next year.
Why xCreative
Why packaging works here.
Packaging designed without production knowledge is a beautiful invoice problem: the emboss that doubles the unit cost, the colour that needs a sixth plate, the box that ships air. We design inside the constraints from day one because we manage the printing too, so the pack you approve is the pack you can afford at volume.
For Melbourne’s bilingual market we also set English and Chinese as one designed system on the pack, which food and tea brands here genuinely need. A pack that reads properly in both languages sells to the whole suburb, not half of it.
FAQ
Questions clients ask us.
01
Do you handle food labelling requirements?
We design around your regulatory copy and your food consultant’s requirements, and we lay it out so compliance and appetite appeal stop fighting each other on the pack.
02
Small first runs, big plans. Can you design for both?
Yes. We design range systems that print affordably at small digital runs and scale to offset when the volumes arrive, without a redesign in between.
03
Can you match our existing brand?
Yes. Send the guidelines and the pack will extend them faithfully. If the brand itself is the weak point, our branding team is down the hall.
04
What does packaging design cost?
A single label and a twelve-product range system are different jobs. Tell us the products and the print quantities and we will quote it straight.
